How to add TEXTURE to your digital art (and why you should)
I feel like adding texture to my pieces is almost like putting icing on a cake.
Okay, maybe not that important. But it's almost like adding a cake topper!
Adding a texture on top of your art piece can be the perfect finishing touch and can enhance the overall visual appeal and depth of your pieces.
How to add a texture in Procreate:
Step 1: Open your painting in Procreate
Step 2: With the canvas texture waiting in your camera roll, click the wrench icon (Actions) > Add > Insert a photo
Step 3: Select the texture from your Camera Roll and it will be added to the top of your layer stack.
Step 4: Click the "N" on the texture layer
Step 5: Change the Blend Mode from Normal to Multiply or Linear Burn (experiment here!)
Step 6: Adjust the opacity of the layer until you're happy with the look!
Why you should try adding texture on top of your next digital piece:
You can create a more realistic look by adding texture to your pieces! You can create a more tactile appearance to your digital art which can make your artwork feel more organic and lifelike, rather than looking flat.
Textures can also add depth and dimension to your art By using different textures and layering them, you can create the illusion of depth and make your artwork appear more three-dimensional.
Texture can also help you create a unique style that sets your artwork apart from others. By experimenting with different textures, you can create a look that is distinct and memorable.
At the end of the day, remember to have fun! And if you don't like it, ditch it. :) But I think you will!
